Summarise your findings of the genre conventions in film openings from your chosen genre

My chosen genre is Mystery/ Thriller. The conventions that are used are tense music, its pace varies as it depends on the scene. It is used to make the scenes more dramatic and it adds suspense. There is usually a cliff hanger moment in the film, for example, in the film 'The Gift, the wife of Simon faints in the kitchen but we, the audience, are unsure how and why. We later find out that she was drugged by her husband's former 'friend'. In an addition to this, films in this genre , majority of the time, have a jumpy moment, when something or someone appears out of nowhere. This could even be a loud sound after a long silence.
